Hello MAES Familia,
MAES Long Beach would like to invite you to the 37th Annual MAES Symposium that will take place in Oakland, CA from Wednesday October 5, 2011 to Saturday October 8, 2011. The MAES Symposium is the premier conference event for MAES, featuring a variety of unique and innovative events not seen at other similar conferences. It features traditional workshop sessions, with a newly restructured curriculum under the MAES PLUSS Program, and meal functions including the acclaimed Speed Networking Breakfast. University students also compete for academic scholarships, present cutting-edge technical research, and participate in the fast-paced College Decathlon competition. The Career and Graduate School Fair is the ideal venue to recruit internship and full-time talent in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This conference raises funds to support MAES’ outreach and leadership development programs as well as operation of the national office which runs this conference and other national events.
As MAES CSULB members, you are welcome to apply for the scholarships which are available as attachments for your convenience. The registration-scholarship will give you the opportunity to have your registration cost covered by MAES National, having everything paid for by reimbursement.

What is the Science Extravaganza? Science Extravaganza (SE) is an all day event that aims to provide middle and high school students the opportunity to participate in a series of exciting, hands-on STEM based workshops and laboratory experiments.
The event aims to introduce and inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The students will have the opportunity to meet and work with engineering students and faculty, as well as have tours of the various engineering facilities and workshops.
Currently, Science Extravaganza is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 22nd at CSULB. SE will begin at 9:00am in the VEC Quad (Vivian Engineering Center). Directions, a schedule of events and any further developments will be posted here promptly.
How can you participate? SE is open to any middle or high school located in the greater Los Angeles and Orange Country areas. Unfortunately, space is limited (~300 students) and we can only invite a limited number of schools.
